Drones is a cancelled Sega Dreamcast game developed by NIGMA Software. It was originally intended to be released as a launch title (or at the very least, early in the Dreamcast's life span) in Japan.

Drones was one of the earliest Dreamcast games to be announced and would have been NIGMA Software's first video game. It shared a similar aesthetic to the movie, Tron and more specifically the video game Discs of Tron, and began production in November 1997 (though the idea dates back to 1984). By the time the Dreamcast launched the game was very close to completition, and would have been one of the first games to utilise online multiplayer. At the time, Drones demonstrated cutting-edge graphics and was partnered with technology giant Compaq.

Drones did see a release under the name of DroneZ for PCs (as a tech demo for NVIDIA GeForce graphics cards) and the Xbox (as a Japanese exclusive, by Metro3D) in 2001 and 2004 respectively, but at this point the game had been radically overhauled to meet more modern standards. It is thought the game missed the Dreamcast due to publishing issues - though the game was mostly finished in September 1998, NIGMA Software were still in talks with publishers and it is presumed they never found one.
