Europress was founded by Derek Meakin in 1965, and exclusively published magazines and newspapers until the dawn of the 1980s, when the company began to branch into computer software publishing.
In 1991, Europress acquired fellow print publisher Newsfield Publications and spun off some of that company's operations into a new division, Europress Impact. Later in 1994, Europress was acquired by publisher IDG and became IDG Media.
