Genesis Plus is a Sega Mega Drive emulator written by Charles MacDonald. It emulates all sound channels, has support for six button game pads, and support for both BIN and SMD format ROM images (ZIP archives as well). The Windows version will not run on Windows 7 or later, due to the emulator being a 16-bit program.

Genesis Plus focuses on a high level of accuracy in its emulation over the addition of features, borrowing MAME's CPUs and sound chips emulation code. As a result, Genesis Plus is one of the most accurate Mega Drive emulators available, as it maintains a level of accuracy even to a point where problems exhibited on the original hardware will be exhibited in the emulator as well. The only other Mega Drive emulator that has such a level of emulation accuracy is Kega Fusion.

The emulator has been ported by third parties to Mac OS X, Nintendo GameCube (Genesis Plus GX), Dreamcast and Pocket PC. The Sega Dreamcast port was the first Mega Drive emulator on the Dreamcast to achieve nearly full speed emulation with proper sound, surpassing even Sega's own emulator in Sega Smash Pack Vol. 1. To this date, it is still the only Mega Drive emulator on the Dreamcast to hold that distinction.
