The "8-bit" version of Joe Montana Football (ジョー・モンタナ フットボール) is an American football game for the Sega Master System, later ported to the Sega Game Gear. It was released around the same time as the Mega Drive version, but is an entirely different game.

In North America, the Master System version was released alongside the redesigned Master System II console.
