Recoton was a US-based electronics company founded in 1936 as Record Town. It enjoyed a long history during the twentieth century producing a vast array of products mostly linked to the music business.
Recoton found itself in a healthy position in the late 1980s and early 1990s, acquiring companies and entering the video game accessory market. It owned the QJ brand during this time.
The company later bought STD Manufacturing which owned InterAct. The QJ line was discontinued shortly afterwards, but the InterAct brand was allowed to thrive, making record profits on the sale of GameShark devices. Recoton also released accessories under the Performance name.
