Game Teams the Biggest Name in Sports with the Biggest Names in Animation

GLEN COVE, N.Y., November 15, 1996 -- It's time to lace up the hightops and get ready for some high-flying, slam-dunking, hot basketball action. Acclaim Entertainment, Inc. (NASDAQ:AKLM), a leading worldwide interactive entertainment company, invites gamers to play three-on-three along with Michael Jordan and everyone's favorite Looney Tunes characters as they battle the "Monstars" to save cartoonkind in this rousing new computer/video game. Acclaim's Space Jam games are shipping this month for Sony PlayStation, Sega Saturn, and PC CD-ROM platforms.

Inspired by the Warner Bros. film, opening nationwide November 15, Acclaim's Space Jam game pulls players into the excitement of madcap intergalactic basketball action to decide the fate of the Looney Tunes characters. In addition to the zany gameplay with dramatic dunks, signature slams, special shots and loony moves, Space Jam increases players' shooting power and speed, taking basketball a step further by including special side games between periods, including the "Space Race," "Locker Room Challenge" and "The Trophy Room."

Acclaim is launching the Space Jam games in conjunction with a comprehensive marketing campaign. In addition to national advertising and public relations programs, a $5 rebate coupon for the game will be available as part of the Space Jam plush McDonalds promotion.

"Acclaim and Warner Bros. have a great relationship and we are thrilled to continue it with Space Jam," said Steve Lux, vice president of product marketing for Acclaim. "Not only does our game boast great characters, but it is also a solid, fast-paced and fun game that offers PC-networked play. We expect it will meet the demands of young gamers and their parents."

Developed by Acclaim's Salt Lake City-based Sculptured Software, experts in fast-paced basketball games like Acclaim's NBA Jam franchise, the Space Jam game lets players join forces with such characters as Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, The Tasmanian Devil and Michael Jordan as they take on the "Monstars," evil alien creatures who have stolen the talent of well-known professional basketball superstars. Playing as any one of the Looney Tunes, Michael Jordan or even as one of the Monstars, gamers run, jump and slam dunk their way to victory.

Acclaim's Space Jam game will be available in November on Sega Saturn and Sony PlayStation for a suggested retail price of $49.99 and DOS CD-ROM for a suggested retail price of $39.99. The CD-ROM version requires a 486-66 processor, 8 megabytes of memory, 35 megabytes of hard disk space, a 2X CD-ROM drive and a 1 megabyte SVGA graphics card. A four-button joystick is recommended. In addition, the game is IPX/SPX network compatible and supports up to six players.
