Saturn Bomberman (サターンボンバーマン) is a Sega Saturn Modem-compatible Sega Saturn puzzle action game developed and published by Hudson Soft. A port of the previous July 1996 game Saturn Bomberman, it was released exclusively in Japan in September 1996, and utilizes the XBAND service for online gameplay.
Gameplay
While the core gameplay remains identical to the standard Saturn Bomberman, this XBAND iteration removes the "Normal Game" mode, and limits the "Battle Game" mode to online play, in which 2-4 players can compete. If a modem isn't detected a simplified "Master Game" boots, titled Niko Bon Pick '96 (にこボンピック'96); a one-player, single level challenge where the game gives you a rating (out of nine) if completed.
The online portion is thought to have been re-incorporated into the standard Saturn Bomberman for its North American release.
