Rule Naming

Our naming rules say use the most often used English title. What should I do about Puyo Pop — suffixes (Puyo Pop (NeoGeo Pocket Color) redirects to this page and Puyo Pop (GBA) talks about the GBA game)? Call the GBA one by its Japanese name Minna de Puyo Puyo and give Puyo Pop a disambig page? - Andlabs 19:17, 24 January 2011 (CST)

Puyo Pop will need a disambiguation page. That's almost unavoidable as IIRC there's a watered down GBA "Puyo Pop" game which is downloaded via the GameCube (there's a NiGHTS one too... but I don't know the story here). There's also probably mobile phone ports called Puyo Pop, and I'd place good money on the name being used again in the future.

As for the GBA game... I'm going to have to vote "Puyo Pop" because it's a 2 main regions vs. 1 scenario. We're bound to have these sorts of continuity problems as Sega Retro expands, even if everything was switched to its Japanese name. But as long as there's a redirect it's no problem. Of course, I vote scrapping the "most often used English title" rule in favor of a "most appropriate title" rule. With the hundreds (if not thousands) of Japanese-only games on Sega systems, it will be impossible for this site to remain "completely English". Makes sense for Sonic Retro, less so for Sega Retro. -Black Squirrel 10:27, 25 January 2011 (CST)
