Atari Corporation was a video game development company founded in 1984. Originally it was the consumer division of Atari Inc., however its parent company at the time, Warner Communications, sold it to Tramel Technology, owned by Jack Tramiel, known in the industry for his aggressive marketing plans for the earlier Commodore 64. The other half of Atari Inc. went on to become Atari Games.

In 1996 it reverse-merged with JT Storage to become a division of the company. It's assets and name were then bought by Hasbro Interactive in 1998 and a brand new company was formed - Atari Interactive.

Atari Corporation were responsible for marketing products such as the Atari 7800 and Atari ST, as well as the Atari Jaguar and Atari Lynx. This meant it was a direct competitor to Sega during the late 1980s and early 1990s. Atari Corporation held the licenses to many old Atari Inc. properties, such as Centipede and Missile Command.
