Sakura Taisen (サクラ大戦) is a long-running media franchise created as a joint venture between Sega and Red. The franchise started with a game that was released on the Sega Saturn in 1996 and quickly exploded into one of Japan's biggest, with everything from television shows to a store that only sells Sakura Taisen merchandise. 2010's Sakura Wars: So Long, My Love marks the first game in the series to be released outside Japan.
