GENDA Sega Entertainment Co., Ltd., formerly Sega Entertainment Co., Ltd is a former subsidiary of Sega Sammy Holdings which is primarily responsible for the operation and expansion of the amusement venues and restaurant facilities within Japan. The company operated game centers under the Sega, Club Sega, Sega World and other brands.
The division also operated the Sega Catcher Online service and provides rentals of amusement machines.
On November 4, 2020, Sega Sammy Holdings sold a majority 85.1% stake in Sega Entertainment to Genda Inc., and the company was rebranded as Genda Sega Entertainment. The sale was done following "extraordinary losses" of ¥20 billion within the business, with Sega citifying the impacts of the COVID-19 Pandemic as reasoning for the sale.
On January 28, 2022, Sega Sammy sold their remaining 14.9% stake in the business to Genda, and exited the arcade business as a whole. GENDA Sega Entertainment Co., Ltd. was effectively renamed as GENDA GiGO Entertainment Co., Ltd. afterwards, with Sega no longer holding any ownership in the company.
