When the Electronic Arts logo appears, press and hold Up-left+A+C until the title screen appears, then press B to be taken to a testing screen[1]. The available options include a sound test as well as toggles to open the entire map and enable infinite lives and invincibility. Additional system information is displayed at the bottom of the screen, which are as follows:

  • Model: The console's region setting. Displays "Domestic" for Japanese and Asian systems, or "Overseas" for International systems.
  • Type: The console's video mode. Displays either "NTSC (7.76 MHz)" or "PAL (7.60 MHz)"
  • FDD Unit: Seems to reference the unreleased Mega Drive Floppy Disk Drive.
  • MD Version: Displays 1 if the console has the TradeMark Security System, or 0 if it doesn't have TMSS.
  • Program Creation: The game's build date and time.
