Sega Software R&D Dept. #2 was a short-lived division of Sega. Essentially a continuation of Sega AM2, the "AM" name was dropped when the AM (amusement) and CS (consumer) R&D divisions were merged. Software R&D #2 kept its number and most of its staff, being largely unchanged during this period (and would still trade as AM2, complete with (albeit slightly modified) palmtree logo).
