Alien Trilogy is an unreleased Mega-CD and Mega-CD 32X game based on the Alien franchise. Developed by Probe Entertainment and scheduled to be published by Acclaim Entertainment in November 1994[5] (later pushed back to around 1995), the project was eventually moved to the Saturn where it was released as Alien Trilogy in August 1996.

History

Alien Trilogy was featured at Summer CES 1993[1] as an upcoming Mega-CD title, showing off early "demo animations" from the game.[2] It made another appearance at Summer CES 1994[3][4], now announced as the first third-party game to be released for the Mega-CD 32X.[3]

Numerous contemporary game magazines list Alien Trilogy as a 32X title (and not a Mega-CD 32X one).[4][6] However, this is generally believed to have been a lack of clarification by said magazines, as many of these claims were made after Acclaim had already announced the game as being a Mega-CD 32X exclusive.[3]

Reportedly, an announcement of the game's cancellation was made by Acclaim in May 1995.[7]

Development

Of all the developers involved with the Mega-CD version of Alien Trilogy, none can recall working on any Mega-CD 32X iteration.[8][9] This suggests this version was a fabrication of the game's marketing team, making it appear the title had moved to a more relevant system.
