ASCII Wars is a homebrew shooter game for two players that was developed by ComradeOj for the Sega Mega Drive. A limited edition of 100 physical copies was released by 8 Bit Evolution in March 2015.

    Story

There lives an evil warlord from a dimension where all matter is made up of bad ASCII art. He conquered all available land, but was not satisfied. In order to claim more land, he sent an inter-dimensional traveler to scout out new lands to claim. A small resistance group sent out a craft of their own to chase down and destroy the scout, and spare the innocent from the evil warlord's wrath. The battle that ensued became known as: The ASCII War.[2]

    Gameplay

ASCII Wars is a simple two players shooting game. Move your ship around the screen (the control is a bit like classic Asteroids game), and try to shoot each other (the ships don't shoot bullets, but strings of text). Try not to get shot, else you'll be shredded across the dimensions.

    Controls

    • D pad: Moves
    • A: Shoots
    • B: Locks your movement vertically
    • C: Locks your movement horizontally
