Hiroaki Shoji (庄司 弘明) joined Sega in 1992 as a programmer at Sega AM2, his first work being Soreike Kokology. He worked on the animation program for several early Virtua Fighter games before becoming the chief battle system programmer for Shenmue and Shenmue II. He is best-known for his extensive work on the Sega Network Taisen Mahjong MJ series, becoming its director with the third generation[1]. Hiroaki is the older brother of composer Hidenori Shoji[2].
