The 1993-04 build of Gunstar Heroes is a prototype build of Gunstar Heroes for the Sega Mega Drive. It was officially released as a hidden bonus feature in Sega Ages 2500 Series Vol. 25: Gunstar Heroes Treasure Box for the PlayStation 2.
Known internally as "Lunatic Gunstar" in the game's header (the original name before Sega of America convinced Treasure to change it), this is a late prototype of the original Japanese release with many differences, namely text differences, different sound effects, different damage values, different boss vitality, an incomplete final stage and several debug commands enabled by default.
