United Microelectronics Corporation (聯華電子), called simply U.M.C, is a Taiwanese consumer electronics company. From late 1995, they produced and sold in China and Taiwan, 16-bit competitor of Mega Drive called Super A'Can. The console was not successful, so in September 1996, UMC got license from Sega to produce Mega Drive hardware[1]for Asian markets, similary to Majesco for North America. The cooperation went on to early 2000s.
