Enable debug options (US Version)

ShiningForce MD US Debug2.png

Before the game is switched on (or alternatively, during play then perform a soft reset whilst holding down the buttons), hold down A+B+C+ START  on Controller 2. Release these buttons when the Sega logo appears.

Next, hold down Controller 2 Up and press Controller 1  START  to skip through the story and title screens. These buttons can be released when Simone starts talking.

The following debug options are now available by holding the appropriate button after starting or continuing a game, when Simone says her final line (wishing the player good luck) just before the screen turns to black.

A button: Battle test, immediately load any battle in the game

B button: Chapter select

C button: View credits

Enabling these options also boosts the main character's stats and disables saving. [1]

Enable debug options (Japan Version)

Before the game is switched on (or alternatively, during play then perform a soft reset whilst holding down the buttons), hold down Up+ START  on Controller 2.

Release these buttons when the Sega logo appears then immediately hold down Controller 2 A + C whilst the Sega logo is still on the screen. These buttons can be released when the first story screen appears.

The debug options described in the US version above are now available and accessed in the same way, by starting or continuing a game, and holding the appropriate button on Simon's final screen wishing the player good luck (before the screen turns black).

Rename all characters (all versions)

When you start a new game and have the opportunity to rename the main character, highlight "End", hold down A+B+C+ START  on Controller 2 and press A+C on Controller 1 to switch to a different character who can also be renamed. This can be repeated multiple times to rename every character in your party.

Enable sound test (all versions)

Finish the game at least once and allow the credits to run to completion. Alternatively, use the debug options cheat above to run through the credits. Start or resume a game and hold Down +  START  when Simone says her final line (wishing the player good luck) just before the screen turns to black.

Note the sound test in the US version has a glitched border unlike the Japanese version.
