Sega Mouse
From Sega Retro
The Sega Mega Mouse is a special mouse designed to work with the Sega Genesis/Megadrive. It was only used in a few games, including Art Alive, Wacky Worlds, and a few others. It could also be used with certain Sega CD games, such as Eye of the Beholder. The unit was released as a response to Nintendo's own Mario Paint, which came bundled with a mouse designed to be used with the SNES.
About the unit
- The Mega Mouse has a total of four (4) buttons: 'A', 'B', 'C', and 'Start', just like the standard Genesis/Megadrive control pad.
- The 'trigger buttons' are located where one would normally find the buttons on a standard three-button mouse; the 'Start' button is located just below the 'A' button, where a right-handed person's thumb would rest.
- Two versions of the Mega Mouse exist - one model featuring the standard four-button layout, and one version where the mouse could be turned upside-down and the ball used as a trackball.
- It came boxed with a blue mousemat in Europe, and a red-and-black mat in America.
