Akira Nishino (西野 陽) is a chief producer and development manager at Sega of Japan. He joined Sega Enterprises in 1991 as a game designer, and his first project was to write plots for the Phantasy Star II Text Adventures for the Sega Game Toshokan[1]. He was notably the main game designer for Ristar. After transferring departments to Sega CS2,[5], he gained notoriety for his work on the Sakura Taisen franchise, eventually being named chief director of the series.

He was the general manager of Global Entertainment R&D Dept. 2[6], where he became involved with the Bleach Project and Valkyria Chronicles, and was also head of its successor Sega CS3, where he produced games created by developers outside Sega such as M2 and Imageepoch.
