Mega Turrican is an entry in the Turrican series, released for the Sega Mega Drive in 1994. The game was developed and finished in 1993, but couldn't get released because Factor 5 and Rainbow Arts (which solely published computer games) weren't able to find a console publisher interested in the game. During the time the game was kept unreleased, it was ported by NEON Studios to the Amiga and renamed as Turrican 3, with revamped music but inferior graphics. The Mega Drive version was finally released when Data East agreed to publish it in 1994.

The original Turrican was also released for the Mega Drive, though Turrican II was rebranded as a movie license as Universal Soldier.
