The Sega PAC, sometimes stylized as Sega Pack, is a Pioneer LaserActive hardware expansion module which allows the system to play Sega Mega Drive, Sega Mega-CD, and Sega Mega LD games, in addition to CD-G media. Like it's counterpart, the NEC PAC, it also expands the LaserDisc functionality of the system by adding advanced playback features like frame-by-frame view and multi-speed jogging.[1] Shipping with the Pioneer-branded Six Button Control Pad, the PAC was reportedly the most popular expansion among owners of the system.
The PAC is region locked, and will only play games encoded for that PAC's region.

Hardware
The Sega PAC essentially contains the majority of the Sega Mega Drive's internal hardware, with the front of the unit housing a Mega Drive cartridge slot. The Sega Mega-CD hardware is largely included as well, with the actual CD drive being provided by the Pioneer LaserActive itself (and with compact discs being inserted into a depression in the main LaserDisc disc tray.)
