Richard Davant Stewart III[6][7][8][9][10][11][12][13][14] was an American businessman and former Service Games key executive.
Personal life
Richard Stewart was born in El Paso, Texas on January 5, 1925 to Richard Davant Stewart Jr.[6][15][16][17], a service station operator from Canutillo, Texas (son of Richard Davant Stewart Sr.[18][19][20] and Anne Caroline Hardy Stewart, both of Tyler, Alabama), and Mary Vermillion Stewart,[21][22][23][17] a schoolteacher (later Mary Vermillion Johnson[24][25], daughter of Dr. Henry Franklin Vermillion,[26][27][28][29][30] founder and first superintendent of the Southern Baptist Sanatorium[31][32][33][34][35] of El Paso, Texas and Ida Kate Gray Vermillion[36][37], both of Eastland, Texas) and his brothers were William Robert Stewart and Henry Vermillion Stewart, both of San Francisco, California and James Franklin Stewart[1][2][38], a rancher from Kelowna[39][40][41], British Columbia, Canada, who ran the Casorso, Bulman and Chilco ranches under the business name of Kelowna Ranch, Inc.[42] (incorporated on April 27, 1960[43] as Kelowna Ranches, Ltd.[44][45][46][47]), all descendants, through their father, of the Davant family[48], a Huguenot family who emigrated from England to Georgia in the 1700s.
Richard Stewart married on June 19, 1949[7][8][9][49][50] in Honolulu with Nannette "Nettie" Adele Gomes[51][52], an usherette at the Waikiki Theatre (daughter of Jesse August Gomes, a United States Navy boatswain's mate at Pearl Harbor[53][54] and Adele Caroline McKeague, both of Honolulu[55][56]) and they had four children, namely Scott Kamana Stewart[57] (born on July 23, 1951[58] in Honolulu, Hawaii), Leslie Stewart (currently Leslie Balfour-Lynn[59][60][61][62], born on August 16, 1953[58] in Tokyo, Japan), Grant Meiji Stewart (born on October 3, 1957[58] in Tokyo, Japan) and Ray Taisho Stewart[51][52] (born on September 1, 1960[58] in Tokyo, Japan).
Three of Richard Stewart's uncles, namely William Champneys Stewart IV[63], Judson Dunaway Stewart[63] and James Ogilvie Stewart Sr.[63][64], were well known distributors of petroleum produtcs in El Paso County. William Champneys Stewart IV owned the Humble Oil & Refining Company[63], Judson Dunaway Stewart owned the Service Oil Sales Company[65] and James Ogilvie Stewart Sr. owned the J. O. Stewart Oil Company[66][67].
