Time Warner Interactive (タイムワーナーインタラクティブ) was a studio within Time Warner which developed video games. It was formed in 1993 after Time Warner bought a controlling interest in Atari Games, and was active until 1996 when WMS Industries bought the company. This studio was previously known as Tengen - the consumer division of Atari Games. Atari Games would continue to operate under their own name until 1996 when both it, and Time Warner Interactive were brought back together and renamed Midway Games West.
It should also be noted that there is no relation between Atari Games/Time Warner Interactive and "Atari Corporation", the home computer department owned by Jack Tramiel. Atari Corporation split from Atari Games (the arcade division) in 1984 and went onto produce the Atari ST line of computers, the Atari Lynx and the Atari Jaguar. Coincidentally Atari Corporation was also renamed in 1996, becoming part of JTS Inc. and later Hasbro Interactive.
