Rambo III (ランボーIII) is a Sega Mega Drive overhead run and gun game developed and published by Sega. Based on the titular 1988 action film Rambo III, it was first released in Japan in October 1989, and is notably one of the first movie-based games released for the system.

Gameplay

You play as John Rambo in various overhead shooting environments. C shoots; hold for rapidfire. You have three of special weapons; select with A and fire with B. You can use the knife as much as you want, but the crossbow and bombs can only be used if you have enough arrows/bombs; collecting squares with A on them collects arrows and collecting squares with B on them collects bomb. You can get hurt by your own bombs exploding — watch out! While you can move freely around, the screen will eventually lock you from backtracking. Getting hit three times will game over.

Production credits

Though the game does not include a staff roll, two initials can be found in the game's levels. "ASO" can be found in Mission 4, likely referring to Hiroshi Aso. "Y.S" can be found in Mission 6, though it's unknown who this could be referring to.[6]
