Madden NFL '94, released in Japan as NFL Pro Football '94 (NFL プロフットボール'94) (not to be confused with Sega's NFL Football '94), is a sequel (or update) to John Madden Football '93. It was the first in the series to be officially licensed by the National Football League, and so was the first to call itself "Madden NFL" (instead of "John Madden Football").

While the NFL license allows the game to use real NFL teams, Madden NFL '94 is not licensed by the National Football League Players Association, so cannot use any player names.
