From 2002/2003, New Game began releasing Mega Drive bootlegs with "striped" spines, not dissimilar to official North American boxes from 1993-onwards. There are at least four sets of these boxes, both with and without New Game branding, and in both Russian and English variants. Most of the games were released twice: before translation with English language and after translation into Russian. Russian versions can be identified not just by the text "русская версия", but their use of pink spines. Not every game was translated. The games with this style are sold by New Game until this day, but in rather limited numbers (more popular are multi-carts and consoles with build-in games).

The redesign of Padis 16 Битный картридж releases, also by Virt. More know and widespread design than the previous one, sold from 1999/2000 to 2002/2003. The changes include layout (genre of the game is now at the top and 16 Битный картридж under), second spine with cheats and cardboard inlay is missing because boxes are based on original ones but are much smaller. When New Game began translation of Mega Drive games some of them had special sticker on box and different cartridge.

Striped spine release

From 2002/2003, New Game began releasing Mega Drive bootlegs with "striped" spines, not dissimilar to official North American boxes from 1993-onwards. There are at least four sets of these boxes, both with and without New Game branding, and in both Russian and English variants. Most of the games were released twice: before translation with English language and after translation into Russian. Russian versions can be identified not just by the text "русская версия", but their use of pink spines. Not every game was translated. The games with this style are sold by New Game until this day, but in rather limited numbers (more popular are multi-carts and consoles with build-in games).
